I’ve been hammering on the importance of taking rest days since February. The argument from a lot of coaches is that there is no such thing as over-training, only under-recovering. Whether you believe this or not is irrelevant to the point, recovery matters. Stretch out, refuel, and refocus. If you’re serious about your training and performance then review your training journal from the week and see where you can make some improvements. Maybe you can eat or sleep a little better, or maybe you can work towards hitting all 6 days of training. Whatever you need to do to improve, today is the day to plan for it.
