On this episode, Adam sits down with repeat guest and good friend Ben Stourac of Arcadia Outfitting to discuss the devastating loss of their entire basecamp in the McKay Fire, a 26,000 hectare wildfire that began on June 29th along BC’s Fraser River corridor.

In 2017, Ben and his wife Rosi purchased their dream business, Arcadia Outfitting, a guided tourism operation. They immediately poured their heart and souls into it and spent the last four years building the business. After setbacks in 2019 with the local bighorn herds becoming sick with M.ovi, 2020 brought Covid-19, crippling tourism across Canada and almost completely shutting down their business for the last 18 months.

With no end in sight to border closures, work was already unpredictable and revenue essentially nonexistent. 2021 didn’t bring bluer skies for these two, with the loss of their basecamp in the McKay Fire on June 29th, 2021. Their loss is immeasurable and impossible to remedy, but our goal is to raise enough money to help them rebuild, recover, and get back on their feet.

If you can, please help Ben and Rosi rebuild their dreams and livelihood by visiting the Rebuild Arcadia GoFundMe fundraising page to make a donation.
